GALVANIZING JOB WORK

GALVANIZING PROCESS
The 7-tank hot dip galvanizing (HDG) process is an advanced method used for galvanizing steel and iron products. It involves a series of pre-treatment and coating steps to ensure optimal coating adhesion and corrosion protection. The 7-tank HDG process typically includes the following steps:
(1) Degreasing Tank: The metal components are first immersed in a degreasing tank filled with a solution to remove any grease, oil, or organic contaminants from the surface. This step ensures proper surface preparation for subsequent coating stages.
(2) Rinsing Tank: After degreasing, the components are rinsed in a tank filled with clean water to remove any residual degreasing solution and contaminants.
(3) Acid Pickling Tank: The metal components are then immersed in an acid pickling tank containing a diluted acid solution, typically hydrochloric acid. This tank removes mill scale, rust, and any other impurities from the metal surface, providing a clean substrate for galvanizing.
(4) Rinsing Tank: Following acid pickling, the components go through another rinsing tank to remove any residual acid and contaminants.
(5) Flux Tank: The acid-cleaned steel article is immersed in a flux solution, containing zinc ammonium chloride, and usually operating at 50-70°C. The flux solution removes any oxide film which forms on the steel surface after acid cleaning, preventing further oxidation before galvanizing and activating the surface.
(6) Galvanizing Tank: In this tank, the metal components are fully immersed in a bath of molten zinc maintained at a high temperature. The molten zinc reacts with the clean metal surface, creating a metallurgical bond and forming a zinc-iron alloy layer.
(7) Quenching Tank: After galvanizing, the components are quickly immersed in a quenching tank filled with water or a passivation solution. This step cools the components rapidly, solidifying the zinc coating and ensuring its adhesion to the metal surface.
The 7-tank HDG process provides a high-quality and uniform zinc coating, offering superior corrosion resistance and durability. It ensures proper surface preparation, removes impurities, and creates a strong metallurgical bond between the zinc and the base metal. This process is widely used in various industries where corrosion protection is crucial, such as construction, infrastructure, transportation, and manufacturing.
